i-Essex CASCAiD integration

WebBared are currently working with CASCAiD to integrate the IAG tools they offer into the ILP. 'Super web link' technology allows users to launch CASCAiD programs within the ILP, such as Kudos, without having to log in again.

The second phase of this project is for the results of users' action plans in Kudos to appear automatically within a new 'Careers' tab in the ILP.

Surrey to roll out multi-channel site

Surrey LA will shortly be launching a multi-channel Content Management System for their 11-19 agenda and are gearing up to roll this out across the LA from September.

The focus for the first phase of the ILP rollout in June will be the Offsite Learning module, including tracking and monitoring tools. The Offsite Learning module will support all of the Surrey networks for their travel to learn students.

Excellent feedback for offsite learning module

We are delighted with the feedback we have received so far about our ILP Offsite Learning Module. In particular, Tamarside Community College is pleased with the latest additions to this module. They have commented that it is now even easier to see all students that are offsite on a daily basis, and whether they have arrived safely.

Shibboleth allows for simplified log in

WebBased have been working with Education Leeds to establish a Shibboleth solution that will enable users to be authenticated in the ILP after logging into the Leeds Learning Network. This is shortly due to be rolled out to schools across Leeds.

Following on from this success, Shibboleth will be implemented across the South West, using the Merlin IDP as a mechanism to authenticate users.

SIF Agent allows two-way data exchange

WebBased is currently working with South West LAs to develop a SIF Agent. To allow the integrationg between MIS systems and the ILP, schools will install a SIF Agent which reads and writes data to the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL).

By the end of March, WebBased's ILP SIF Agent will be able to read and write core data to SWGfL.

New online help system for the ILP

Supporting schools and end users with questions regarding the ILP is a key task for Local Authorities. To help reduce the number of questions which are received, a new online help system has been developed and will shortly be added to the beta site of the ILP.

Initially this will allow users to access the latest version of the ILP help material. Further updates will be made to the help system later in the year, including the addition of more interactive help features and an FAQ section.

e-ILP celebrates BETT success!

e-ILP exhibited at BETT 2010, as part of WebBased's new 14-19 Solutions and is pleased to report a very successful event! At the time of writing, BETT2010 was well on its way to breaking last year's record figure of 30,000 visitors so it was lucky that we had more PCs on our stand than ever before as this enabled us to demonstrate just how invaluable our e-ILP is users.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit our stand and we hope you found our products useful!

Tracking attendance scores top marks!

The Tamar Valley Consortium is responsible for delivering training to over 1,000 learners across 130 sites in Plymouth. TVC have used the online attendance tracking facility in the WebBased e-ILP for two years. Bob Mountjoy, TVC Director, said, "The success of the e-ILP to track attendance has exceeded our expectations. Students know they are being tracked more closely and our retention and success rates have shown a marked improvement."

Taking action to complete targets

A new feature has been added to the WebBased e-ILP that allows learners to think more carefully about the goals they are setting themselves. In early 2010, learners will have the opportunity to list the individual actions which they need to complete in order to successfully achieve their goals. Each action will be highlighted in red or green to show its status within an action plan. As actions are signed-off, learners will see their goals getting closer to completion.

New easier-to-use features for students

The e-ILP has enjoyed considerable success and students have been keen to provide input into how we can make it even easier to use. As a repsonse to this, the following new features are now available on the Beta site for schools and LAs to evaluate.

This release will include the ability to 'star' favourite items; in effect, pinning them to the top of the home page for ease of tracking. Also, a new e-ILP Summary home page box will be available that pulls together messages, entries, entry comments, to-do list items and resources.

The e-ILP Explorer tool which has been well received by students for its ease of use is also getting some new features. It will now be possible to filter for starred items here as well as view a count of the number of items in each folder.

We envisage the e-ILP Summary tool and the e-ILP Explorer being the main areas that students will use in their e-ILP user experience.

Some other very useful changes being made in this version include:
     - Students will be able to collapse the header if they wise to give themselves more room in which to work.
     - The navigation is being restructured, making moving around the e-ILP easier and quicker.
     - e-ILP messages can now have attachments.

Save hours with automatic teaching groups

This feature was developed in liaison with Education Leeds and allows e-ILP Administrators to specify a number of rules on which a group can be populated. These groups can then have resources targetted at them.

For example, you might wish to disseminate a resource that is pertinent to a specific group of students in the LA; with this feature it is possible to create an automatic group in order to make that resource available to that group.

ePortfolios go live

Students can now create ePortfolios to celebrate and share their work with users who don't have access to their e-ILP

Students choose a colour scheme, header graphic and background image for each ePortfolio and simply drag and drop the items from their e-ILP into their ePortfolio. Once complete, it is authorised by a member of staff and can then be accessed via a student-defined web address and password.
